Bound and Unbound
The culminating exhibition of the 2025 AFH Fellowship Program
Join us on Thursday, October 30th from 5:30–7:30 PM in the AFH Lewis Gallery for an evening celebrating the works of the AFH Fellows: Shima Taj Bakhsh, Genna Medina-Cook, Tanya Nixon-Silberg, and Haniel Wides.
This open studio highlights Bound and Unbound, the culminating exhibition and reception of the 2025 Fellowship Program. Together, these works suggest that binding is not merely a constraint but an act of transformation, a ritual through which grief might become acceptance, solitude might open into relation, and what feels fragile might reveal its strength. The show also includes select response pieces created in dialogue with the Peabody Essex Museum’s Andrew Gn: Fashioning the World exhibition.
Come meet the artists, experience their work up close, and see how this year’s Fellows have explored the boundaries of sustainable art.
Additional Info about the program:
The 2025 Artist Fellowship supports five Boston-area artists—two of whom are AFH alumni—in developing new work grounded in sustainable art practices. Now in its third year, the Fellowship deepens access and opportunity for diverse creators while strengthening AFH’s role in fostering a sustainable and inclusive cultural ecosystem. Over nine months, Fellows engage in research-driven practices that reimagine materials, reduce waste, and honor reclaimed or organic resources—blending artistic expression with ethical responsibility. Guided by mentor v. nico d’entremont, the cohort refines their creative vision and process, culminating in a final exhibition that embodies sustainability as both principle and practice.
