Application Open: Become a 2024 AFH Artist Fellow

AFH Artists Fellowship

Inaugural cohort at their culminating exhibition 'VOICE5' in The AFH Gallery.

Application Deadline: 12/11/23

Artists For Humanity’s successful inaugural Artists Fellowship leads to the 2024 Fellowship, a nine-month mentorship program for five emerging Boston artists. The opportunity empowers both AFH alumni and local artists to amplify their voices, bridging traditional and digital realms, fostering career growth and creative innovation.

The Fellowship will provide professional development via one-on-one mentorship with entrepreneur and changemaker Christopher Hope. Founder of Loop Lab, Loop Lab Studios, and Equity Intelligence, a DEIB & staffing company, Hope is dedicated to equipping individuals and communities with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital era, at the intersection of the arts and workforce development, and the ever-evolving media arts sector.

The Fellowship will provide artists with an immersive experience, offering ample time to delve into the realms of video production, editing, storytelling, and utilizing social media platforms as powerful tools for promotion and engagement. It encourages artists to explore the dynamic intersection of traditional visual arts with the boundless possibilities of digital media.

Widening the focus from 2D visual arts to content creation, videography, and social media opens up new avenues for artists to express themselves and engage with audiences in different ways. This expansion acknowledges the growing importance of digital platforms and social media in the art world, where artists can showcase their work and reach a wider audience. The digital media focus reflects AFH’s diverse studios and disciplines, inviting a broader pool of candidates.

We are committed to providing a robust set of resources, including workshops on video production techniques, social media strategies, and digital marketing. Furthermore, artists will have access to mentorship from seasoned professionals in these fields, offering invaluable guidance and support.

The AFH Artists Fellowship remains steadfast in its mission to amplify the voices and advance the careers of both AFH alumni and local artists. It unlocks exciting opportunities for creators to adapt and expand their practice, ultimately bringing their unique voices, works, and stories to a global audience.

We look forward to embarking on this transformative journey with our Fellows, and are eager to witness the innovative and inspiring creations that will emerge from the 2024 Artists Fellowship program.
